Ruan’s reputation preceded him, for me, and it was probably 10 years after first reading/hearing about him, in industry publications, that our paths physically crossed. I was as curious as I was respectful, to meet this broker, who could seemingly write prolific volumes, year-after-year, and at the same time find the time to be a great husband, father, community member, investor and industry champion. So I almost felt like I knew him before I did.
He was all that I had heard about, and more. What I hadn’t accurately gauged, was how passionate, energetic and thoughtful he was/is about our industry, and what an important role he plays within it for all brokers. I was fortunate enough to come and work with him in 2017 and have enjoyed every minute really. He’s always been there to guide and advise, never overstepping the line, and ever respectful of my opinions too. People said we would clash, as two strong personalities, but we never have; we’ve agreed to agree to disagree, respectfully, but that is the man who is Ruan, gracious and respectful, as much as he’s knowledgeable and connected. He has helped me immensely, and I’ve learned so much from him, and I remain in awe of his energy, skills and kindness. He’s my mentor and my friend.
